Organland Farm is located on the route of the Holy Family’s journey in Egypt

The Virgin Mary, the child Jesus and Saint Joseph were in Gabal al-Tayr.

Organland Farm is located in Jabal al-Tair, which was one of the landmarks of the Holy Family’s journey in Egypt, The farm is also located opposite the Monastery of the Virgin Mary in Jabal al-Tair. Therefore, we were not surprised when we read the facts that were stated in the report of the “NARS” National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences, which showed the following;

1. The groundwater in our area is purer than mineral water, and it is also a renewable resource.

2. Most parts of the soil of the land are classified as CA soil (Class A), which allows us to grow many plants.

3. The weather is sophosticated, with the report showing that sunny and rainy weather allows for housing animals and growing crops, meanwhile the farm has the previntive distance which allows to build poultry farms as Organland Farm is located between two mountains, giving it the characteristics of a nature reserve.

We at the Organland family believe that the blessing of the Holy Family’s passage is one of the main reasons that makes our life there full of joy and happiness (no wild animals, insects or reptiles), however, We have taken advantage of this unique vibe to establish the farm on scientific foundations and apply modern technologies.

The Holy Family stopped at twenty‑five points over the course of their 3500‑meter journey.

  The Holy Family stopped at twenty‑five points over the course of their 3500‑meter journey from Asyut to Sinai. Each station is the site of monuments such as churches, monasteries, wells, and Coptic icons. These are considered indicators of the path of the Journey of the Holy Family.

      The Holy Family first came through Rafah in the north‑east of Egypt, passing through Tell al‑Farama, east of Port Said. They then reached Kafr al-Sheikh in the Delta and passed through Tell Basta in al‑Sharqiyyah and Samannud in al‑Gharbiyyah. They moved to Wadi al‑Natrun in the Western Desert, where the Monasteries of Anba Bishoy, Virgin Mary, al‑Surian (the Monastery of the Syrians), Paramus, and St. Abu Maqqar would eventually be founded.

          Their journey then took them to Musturad and Matariya, where the Tree of the Virgin Mary is located. From their they moved to the Zuwayla Church in Fatimid Cairo, passing through near the future site of the Church of Saints Sergius and Bacchus in what is today the religious complex in Old Cairo. They then went to Maadi, where they crossed the Nile. It is on this part of the Nile that a page from the Bible appeared on the surface of the water containing the famous phrase, “blessed are the people of Egypt.” They arrived in Gebel al‑Tayr in al‑Minya, then proceeded to Asyut, where al‑Muharraq Monastery is located. The first church built by Jesus Christ Himself is also located there. The Holy Family then stayed in the Doronka cave, and from there returned to Bethlehem.

The Holy Family’s journey to Egypt was also of interest to the Egyptian government which launched a special tourism project under the name “The Holy Family Path”. The first archaeological area in this historical path was officially inaugurated in January 2021 and is located in Samanoud in the Western Governorate of Delta Egypt.

His Holiness Pope Francis considered this path to be a “Christianpilgrimage”.

It is worth to mention that; In October 2017, His Holiness Pope Francis considered this path to be a “Christianpilgrimage,” and in 2018 the path was included in the list of official Vatican visits. In June of the same year, the first official pilgrimage delegation from the Vatican headed to Egypt. The delegation included 52 people and their visit lasted 5 days after Egypt had received unofficial Christian pilgrims from India and the Philippines.
